Davis Bike Club Features Dr. Liz Applegate as Guest Speaker
Come hear one of the nation’s top sports nutritionists for free at the next Davis Bike Club
meeting Monday, February 12 at 7:00 p.m.
Dr. Liz Applegate, a nationally renowned expert on nutrition and fitness, is our featured speaker for February. An avid cyclist and swimmer, Applegate is a Distinguished Faculty Emerita at the University of California, Davis (UCD), where she has provided nutrition consultation for collegiate athletes for over 30 years as the Director of Sports Nutrition.
In addition, Applegate wrote the popular “Fridge Wisdom” nutrition column for Runner’s World Magazine for 31 years, and has appeared on international, national, and local radio and television shows including “The CBS Early Show,” “Good Morning America,” Discovery Channel, CNN and ESPN.
She is often quoted in national print and digital media outlets, such as: Bicycling, Fitness,
Glamour, Los Angeles Times, Men’s Health, Real Simple, Shape, Teen Vogue, Vogue, Better
Homes and Gardens, USA Today and The Washington Post.
Applegate has authored several books including: Nutrition Basics for Better Health and
Performance (3rd Ed. Kendall Hunt 2011), Bounce Your Body Beautiful (Three Rivers Press,
2003), Encyclopedia of Sports and Fitness Nutrition (Three Rivers Press, 2002), and Eat Smart Play Hard (Rodale Press, June 2001).
